A body blow is when either the player or an opponent attacks the stomach. In the arcade games, this is done by punching when your guard is down. In the NES, SNES and Punch-Out!! (Wii) game, it is done by simply pressing the punch button. In fights against Bear Hugger, it is known that Body blows tend to make Bear Hugger stick his tongue out at you, although he does not do this in the SNES game when he taunts or if a body blow is used to hit him after an attack, though it ends his stun most of the time. Piston Hurricane alternates between body blows and jabs in his signature move. In the SNES game, body blows are blocked by default as soon as the match starts. It is notable that, like all of the player's punches, the ref will yell "Body blow" in the arcade games, should the player use one.
