Whoa, son! This kid is quick!
~ Doc Louis (Wii), in reference to Kid Quick, giving advice on Disco Kid

Kid Quick (Japanese: キッド・クイック, Kiddo Kuikku), like Pizza Pasta, only appeared in the arcade version of Punch-Out!!. Just like Glass Joe, he has no special attack. As his last name "Quick" implies, he is very fast in both offense and defense. He is a palette swap of Glass Joe.

Appearances[]

Punch-Out!! (1984)[]

In the arcade version of Punch-Out!!, the trick to knocking out Kid Quick is to do the pattern "left, left, right, right" to his head. On the last right, he will throw a low body punch, which requires the player to dodge it and repeat. If players can't get in the pattern correctly, they'll have to keep trying to punch him in the head with a right. When Kid Quick does a low body blow punch, players must dodge it and then do the "left, left, right, right" pattern to the head in order to succeed. Unlike all the other opponents, he isn't fought again after the player defeat Mr. Sandman the first time.

After 1984 debut[]

Kid Quick did not appear in Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!. Don Flamenco, being Glass Joe's palette swap in said game, can be considered a replacement to Kid Quick, despite them sharing no resemblance.

In the 2009 installment of Punch-Out!!, the character Disco Kid is considered a spiritual successor to Kid Quick. Disco Kid's data is labeled "kidquick" on the game's disc, leading to the belief that Disco Kid and Kid Quick are one and the same. In a 2025 interview with gaming journalist Jack Yarwood, developers who worked on the 2009 game said that Kid Quick's design was deemed to suffer from "dated representation" and was instead modernized into Disco Kid.[1] In any case, Disco Kid does retain all of Kid Quick's statistics.

Moves[]

Right Hook: Quick throws a slow right, can be dodged for a stun or countered.

Right Body Blow: Quick throws a fast body blow, can be dodged and sometimes you will get a stun and blocked.

Jab: Quick throws a jab, can be blocked or dodged.

Rule Infractions[]

Kid Quick has 0 rule infractions, making him tied with Pizza Pasta for the cleanest fighters in the entire Punch-Out!! series.
