Mark "Tough Guy" Tyler is the protagonist of Power Punch II, an obscure spiritual successor to the original Punch-Out!!.
Modeled after real-life boxer Mike Tyson, criminal allegations against Tyson led Nintendo to break promotional ties with the boxer and instead develop a game featuring an original character.
History[]
At one point Mark Tyler earned an Olympic gold medal, and subsequently became a professional boxer. With a record of 33-0, Mark Tyler proclaimed himself "the best there ever was" and that he could beat "anyone, anywhere, anytime." With his coach backing up these claims, he caught the attention of the Intergalactic Boxing Federation and was chosen to compete for the top boxing title in the Universe.
