~ Masked Muscle |
Masked Muscle made his only appearance in the SNES version of Super Punch-Out!! as the third boxer in the Major Circuit as well as the #1 for the Major Circuit Championship. He appears to be a luchador as well as a boxer, and is the game's equivalent of Soda Popinski.
Appearances[]
Super Punch-Out!! (1994)[]

In the SNES version of Super Punch-Out!!, he cheats by spitting in the eyes of his opponent to blind him for a short time (see his cornerman say "Spit in his eyes"). This opens him for an attack. He also headbutts his opponent with a great deal of force (also cheating). He shouts "Adios!" when he wins by KO. If you run out of time, he will spit twice at your direction. His sprite is an edit of Super Macho Man.
Moves:
- Jab: Masked Muscle does a jab. Cannot be low blocked.
- Hook: Masked Muscle does a wide hook. Must be blocked high or dodged.
- Uppercut: Masked Muscle does an uppercut. Cannot be blocked.
- Headbutt: Masked Muscle leans back and swings his head in to hit the player. This will hit the player twice and must be dodged.
- High-Low Combo: Masked Muscle shakes his arm before throwing a jab and a hook. Can be evaded like the normal versions.
- "Spit in his eye!": When the cornerman says this, then Masked Muscle will lean back, then spit at the player. If the spit lands, the player will be "blinded" and will be unable to punch. The spit must be dodged or you can punch him which stops him from spitting at the player although the timing window is short.
Instant KO Trick:
- Counter his headbutt with a Knockout Punch.
Instant KD Trick:
Counter his headbutt with a Hook.
Dizzy Knockdown: Masked Muscle will fall down. Hit him when he does that.
Opponent Debug Commands:

Rule Infractions[]
As per the unified rules of boxing established by the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combat Sports:
- His attire violates 7 rules:
- Instead of boxing shorts, he wears wrestling tights which have no clear line of demarcation for the waist.
- A boxer’s clothing cannot be skin-tight
- His tights go under his knees.
- His tights go into his boots
- Instead of boxing boots or boxing shoes, he wears wrestling boots.
- His knee pads count as illegal accessories. He would get two infractions, one for each knee pad.
- Headbutts are not allowed.
- His first match quote says "You should give up now señor.", meaning he is convincing Little Mac to throw the fight, which is not allowed, and unlike other boxers, he is actually trying to convince Little Mac to throw the fight.
- He takes a knee when he gets dizzy. This counts as being knocked down.
- His rematch quote says: "Cheater? I don't know what you're talking about, amigo." This means he's refusing to admit that he's cheating, which is a sign of him being disrespectful, though this is decided by the referee.
- Spitting during a match is not allowed as it is disrespectful and can be considered assault. Also, it is possible that what he spits is not saliva, but colored liquid that can hinder the opponent, a practice called "dokugiri," which is common in Japanese wrestling. This could notably not just be a breach of boxing rules, but also the law.
While his mask would count as a face covering, which would normally be illegal, he's a luchador and a mask is very common in a luchador's overall appearance, which makes it legal as telling a luchador to remove their mask is classed as tasteless and disrespecting their Mexican heritage. It is also legal as he only fights in the Major Circuit, which is equal to medium circuit boxing.
Masked Muscle has 11 infractions and 1 possible infraction.
