There are several characters in the Punch-Out!! series who do not have an appearance, but are known to exist, usually based on quotes from the opponents.

Generic characters[]

Super Punch-Out!! (SNES) cornermen[]

Each opponent in Super Punch-Out!! (SNES) has a cornerman who gives them directions during the fight. Almost all cornermen speak in English regardless of the fighter's home country, which is implied to be the standard for the WVBA. However, Dragon Chan's referee refuses to do so, only giving directions in Chinese.

Characters tied to other characters[]

Aran Ryan's mother[]

Aran Ryan's mother was briefly discussed in the manual for Super Punch-Out!! (SNES), where she was said to have purposely given Aran an unusual spelling variation of his name. This caused Aran to get bullied in school, sparking a chain of events that led to Aran growing up into who he is today. Aran's relationship with his mother is unclear, but the manual states he became particularly irate when his tormentors mentioned her.

Aran Ryan's sister[]

Aran Ryan mentions having a sister in Punch-Out!! (Wii) in two quotes: "Yer pretty like my sister!" after knocking Little Mac down, and "Me sister hits harder than you, boy!" during his Title Defense fight. However, they could just be taunts used to get to Little Mac.

Bald Bull's barber[]

In Punch-Out!! (NES), one of Bald Bull's intermission quotes is "My barber didn't know when to quit... Do you?".

Carmen[]

Across his appearances in the series, Don Flamenco frequently mentions someone named Carmen. He refers to her affectionately and is implied to be in a romantic relationship with her. In Punch-Out!! (NES), one of his intermission quotes is "Carmen, my love... I dance so sweet for you!". In Punch-Out!! (Wii), he has three quotes that refer to her:Carmen, mi amor!" ("Carmen, my love!" in English) when throwing his delayed uppercut, "Aaay, mi Carmen..." ("Oooh, my Carmen..." in English) when knocked down with a hook, and "¡Por Carmen!" ("For Carmen!" in English) when he wins in Title Defense Mode.

In the cutscene before his Contender fight, Don is seen handing a rose to a woman in the crowd during a bullfighting match, who is enamored with him and reacts positively to the gesture. It is unknown if she is the Carmen that he refers to during fights, as he is also implied to be flirtatious with women; during intermissions in his Title Defense fight, he tells Little Mac, "¿Has visto hombre? ¿Cómo enamoro a las chicas?" ("Have you seen it, man? How I make the girls fall in love with me?" in English).

She is only mentioned in the NES game, but in the Wii game, she makes a full (supposed) appearance in Don's Contender cutscene, where he gives her a rose. It's highly implied that Carmen broke up with Don after he lost his Contender match against Little Mac, and that, alongside his defeat, made him depressed and hungry for revenge.

Great Tiger's father[]

Doc Louis mentions him in the round intermission of his son in Punch-Out!! (NES). He describes him as a great magician in India.
