~ Mr. Dream |
Mr. Dream (Mr. ドリーム Mr. Dorīmu) made his only appearance in a re-release of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! now referred to as Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream in the game's re-release. Mr. Dream replaces Mike Tyson as the final opponent of the game, whom Little Mac faces in the Dream Fight at the end. He has the same fighting style and design as Mike Tyson, but an even better fighting record. The pass code to fight him is 007 373 5963.
Appearances[]
Punch-Out!! featuring Mr. Dream (1990)[]

Due to Mr. Dream being a simple head-swap and recolor of Mike Tyson, Mr. Dream fights in exactly the same manner as Mike Tyson in Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!. For the first 90 seconds of the first round, Mr. Dream can floor Mac with only one uppercut. The player can block these punches to reduce the impact, but it isn't recommended, as they will end up with little health left after that. While Mr. Dream can't use these forever, his punches are quick and his reaction time is top-notch.
Attacks:
- Power Uppercut: Mr. Dream throws an uppercut that takes you down with one hit. Can be blocked to survive 1 uppercut but this isn’t helpful as almost all health is lost when doing this. Can be dodged and quick dodged for 2 punches.
- Uppercut: Mr. Dream throws an uppercut. They do much less damage than his power uppercuts and offers more stun when avoided but in theory, they’re identical to each other, minus the extra stun and OHKO. These can be dodged or ducked.
- Hook: Mr. Dream winks and throws a straight hook. The side he winks on indicates the arm he will use. Can be dodged or ducked.
- Jab: Mr. Dream throws a quick jab. This can be blocked to land a left body blow.
- Blink Hooks: Mr. Dream blinks rapidly, and throws multiple hooks in a row similar to what Piston Honda does. It is possible to jab him while he is blinking for a star or time it right for a knockdown.
Instant Knockdown[]
- Jab Mr. Dream right before he opens his eyes after blinking to throw his rapid Jabs. If you do it too early you can still get a star from it and get knocked out.
Quotes[]
Mr. Dream uses the same set of quotes as Mike Tyson.
Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream (NES):
- "Hey! Is this kid a joke? Where's the real challenger"
- "They say I can't lose. I say you can't win!"
- "You think the speed of your fingers can match the strength of my fists?"
- "Your experience doesn't match mine. Go home and practice!"
- "If I knock you down, don't get up!"
- "Great fighting!! You were tough, Mac! I've never seen such finger speed before." (ending)
Rule infractions[]
As per the unified rules of boxing established by the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combat Sports:
- His taunts between rounds are disrespectful to the fight and the opponent, though this is decided by the referee.
- One of his taunts is him telling Little Mac to stay down If he knocks him down. This can be seen as him trying to get Little Mac to throw the fight, which is not allowed, although, due to his quote, it's unknown if he actually meant to convince Little Mac to throw the fight.
- His age is unknown, meaning he did not obtain a legitimate boxing license.
- Before his hook combo, he blinks for a few seconds and leaves himself open for a star, this can be seen as throwing the fight.
- Even if Little Mac doesn't punch, it can still be seen as prolonging the fight.
Mr. Dream has 3 infractions and 2 possible infractions; 2 infractions and 2 possible infractions of which, he shares with Mike Tyson.

Trivia[]
- Mr Dream/Mike Tyson is one of the few fighters who have multiple signature moves (blinking hooks and 1 hit uppercuts) only Super Macho Man (2 types of spin punches) and debatably Mr. Sandman (technically his retaliation hooks since no other boxer has it and Razor Uppercuts) have at least 2 signature moves in the whole game but if Sandman’s retaliation hook doesn’t count, only Macho has multiple signature moves.
- The only difference with his sprite edit of Piston Honda is that he stays in his spot if he wins against Little Mac.
- With a record of 99-0 before facing Little Mac (with all of his victories being KOs), Mr. Dream has the best known fighting record of the opponent boxers in the entire Punch-Out!! series.
- However, this could also apply to or be exceeded by Kid Quick and Pizza Pasta, who only appear in the Punch-Out!! arcade game, where boxing records are not shown.
- Also, although other opponents have had 0 losses before facing Little Mac in the series (namely, Super Macho Man, Mr. Sandman, Nick Bruiser, and technically Donkey Kong) they have had fewer victories, and therefore weaker records than Mr. Dream.
- Additionally, his record can be exceeded by Little Mac in Punch-Out!! (Wii).
- Mr. Dream also bears a striking resemblance to Rocky Marciano, a heavyweight champion who won all of his boxing matches until his retirement.
- Being from Dreamland, he is the only final opponent in any Punch-Out games to be from a known place other than USA, as Mr. Sandman, Super Macho Man, Mike Tyson and Doc Louis are americans while Frank Jr.,Nick Bruiser and Donkey Kong's[Note 1] place of origin are unknown.
Notes[]
- ^ While Donkey Kong's place of origin in his home series is Donkey Kong Island, his location in the game Punch-Out!! is unspecified.
